JoAnn B. Zachow

Obituary

JoAnn Bernice Zachow was born on October 16, 1947, in Gaylord to Walter and Bernice (Franke) Zachow. She was baptized as an infant on November 5, 1947, by Reverend Ernest Stahlke and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 26, 1961, by Reverend R.A. Marquardt, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. JoAnn attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School and Gaylord High School graduating in 1965. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mankato State University, majoring in Business Administration and Marketing.

She was employed for 20 years by Sears in Mankato, Lexington, Kentucky, and Fargo, North Dakota, as Area Manager of Departments. She returned to Minnesota and was employed for 15 years by Manpower, Inc. in Mankato as service representative. In 2002, she accepted the position of Deputy Auditor for Sibley County. She retired in 2012, with 10 plus years of service with the County.

JoAnn was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a past Financial Secretary, a member of the Altar Guild, Circle 3, Choir, Finance Board and Meals on Wheels. She served as Secretary for the Sibley County Extension Committee and a Sibley County Election Official.

JoAnn was creative in her sewing, crafts, banners and wall hangings. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and women’s league recreational softball-retiring after winning the State of North Dakota Class B Championship at the age of 40! JoAnn also enjoyed crossword and picture puzzles, flower gardening, decorating, watching Gopher Basketball, Minnesota Twins, Vikings games, and local sports teams.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Bernice Zachow; Grandparents, Albert and Louisa Zachow, and Otto and Elsa Franke; Stillborn Sister; Brothers, Roger Zachow, Allan  Zachow and his wife, Donna; and Sister-In-Law, Lorie Zachow.
