Obituary

John Henry Albers was born on October 2, 1949, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Henry and Lila (Lee) Albers. John was baptized as an infant and October 16, 1949, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 30, 1961, both at Church of St. Peter and Paul in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received his education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School Class of 1967.

John farmed all his life in Glencoe Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. Even though John was not physically able to help with the farm work last fall, he still drove out to the fields to offer his advice and support. He was a life member of Shady Lane Sportsman Club, supervisor for Glencoe Township in McLeod County, and was on the McLeod County Zoning committee.

John was a member of the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe.

John enjoyed fishing, especially at Devils Lake, North Dakota, and Canada; hosting fish fries and chili feeds, trap shooting, snowmobiling, vegetable gardening and growing his supersized onions, playing cards, softball and bowling. He loved keeping up with the farming on the RFD Channel. John loved having coffee with his buddies.

What can one say about their best friend who will be missed so much! Jerry and I have known John for 50 years or more. We will always remember our great times we had. We went together many times to Vegas. He was always fun to be around. May the Albers family know how loved he was! May he rest in peace!

Johnny and I and the boys spent a lot of good and fun times in Canada at the English River fishing. Johnny helped us guys rebuild Shady Lane from the ground up. We spent so many years snowmobiling at McGregor. I enjoyed our time duck and pheasant hunting. He was a true friend of mine. Blessed be his soul, and thanks for all the great memories. I will cherish them.
