Obituary

JoLene Linda Horton was born on April 27, 1947, in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Sarah (Dose) Feltmann. JoLene was baptized on May 11, 1947, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bergen Township, McLeod County, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 15, 1962, by Reverend R.L. Reith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America. She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Norwood Young America and was a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1966 in Norwood Young America.

JoLene was blessed with two daughters Kristin Kay and Kelly Jean, with their father, Keith Horton. She was employed at Tonka Toys in Mound, Minnesota, 3M in Hutchinson and Telex-Bosch in Glencoe from 1973-2010, when she retired. After she retired, she worked as a bartender.

On October 18, 1989, JoLene met Bruce Post, her life partner for 22 years until his death on July 16, 2012.

JoLene enjoyed playing Bingo, socializing, loved traveling to Las Vegas with Bruce, watching reruns of “Little House on the Prairie,” was a collector of Elvis albums and Christmas décor; keeping her house neat and clean; was on a bowling league and loved having kittens as pets. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies and brownies and sharing them with her neighbors. JoLene cherished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being known as “Grandma Jo.”

The family of JoLene would like to give many thanks to Golden Hearts Assisted Living for the wonderful care JoLene received and the friendships she made there.

JoLene passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington at the age of 74 years. Blessed be her memory.

My sympathies to Jolene’s family. I just saw her last week and got to visit for just a couple minutes. She was very upbeat and talked about her granddaughter.

So much to be said about Jolene. I went to high school with her and her sister Susie. When you would see Jolene out and about, she always would stop for a quick chat. May the great memories you made and shared with her help you through this most difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the passing away of such a sweet lady, and friend, who always greeted you with her patented smile. Bruce Post and I were great friends previous to JoLene and Bruce starting to date. Bruce always told me JoLene was the greatest Lady, loved their nice home, treated him fine, was honest, caring, and love cooking great meals. Last times seeing her smile and short little visits and maybe a hug was my last year driving truck for Dave Cohrs hauling sweet corn to Seneca Foods JoLene was bagging ear corn to test and I was weighing in my load Well Jolene RIP you will be missed by myself and many others here Thanks for the friendship we shared! AMEN
