Judith “Judy” Sellnow

Obituary

Judith Ann Heldt was born on June 29, 1945, in Bergen Township, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Speigner) Heldt.  Judy was baptized as an infant on July 15, 1945, by Pastor R. A. Ritz and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 22, 1959, by Pastor A. Vomhof, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She received her education in Lester Prairie and was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School Class of 1963.

On November 10, 1963, Judy was united in marriage to Robert Sellnow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. For their first five years of marriage, Judy and Robert lived in several different locations while Robert was in the service. When they came back to Minnesota, they then settled on a farm north of Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Jon, Randy and Brian. Judy and Robert shared 57 years of marriage together.

Judy worked at various restaurants during Robert’s time in the service. When they moved to Glencoe, Judy worked at Charlie’s Café in Glencoe and then went on to work in production at Telex in Glencoe for 40 years. While working at Telex, Judy also worked at Hardee’s in Glencoe and Stanley Home Products, until she retired in 2011. Following retirement, Judy worked part-time at Pla-Mor Ballroom in Glencoe. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

Judy enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, especially her beautiful Hostas, spending time caring for her cats and traveling the country.

Judy passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 76.

Sister-in-law, Margaret Heldt of Lester Prairie, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Bertha Heldt; Father and Mother-in-law, Clarence and Pearl Sellnow; Step-Mother-in-law, Caroline “Carrie” Sellnow; Brothers, Ortwin Heldt and his wife, Waltraud, Earl Heldt Sr.; Sister-in-law, Carol Heldt.
