Julianne “Julie” M. Seidl, age 76, of Bird Island, Minnesota, passed away on January 1, 2026, at Buffalo Lake, Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 20, 2026, 1:15 P.M., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island, with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 11:00 A.M - 1:15 P.M., 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Julianne “Julie” Marie Seidl was born on June 20, 1949, to Ervin and Augusta (Kerner) Laffen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector, Minnesota. Julie received her education in Bird Island, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School class of 1967.She furthered her education at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Art in 1970.
On July 18, 1970, Julie was united in marriage to James “Jim” Seidl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. Together, they had three children: LeAnn, Greg, and Tom. Julie and Jim shared 55 years of marriage.
Julie was a dedicated teacher, primarily teaching the second grade at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bird Island, where she nurtured her students' faith and prepared them for their First Communion and First Reconciliation for 28 years. After retiring, Julie took up golfing and quilting, hobbies she continued to enjoy until her illness wouldn’t allow. She was also a passionate supporter of her children, grandchildren’s sporting events, especially those involving the Little Crow Ski Team.
Julie was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary, CCW, and Renville County Quilters. She cherished her time with friends and enjoyed “sister time” and lunch gatherings.
Julie passed away on January 1, 2026, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years.

Julie is preceded in death by her Parents, Ervin and Augusta Laffen; Sister, Lois Ziller; Brother, Gene Heil; Niece, Sara Ziller.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, Julie’s legacy lives on through her family, her work, and the countless lives she touched.
