Obituary

June Agnes Schulz was born June 12, 1923 at home in Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota to John and Meta (Tabbert) Otto. She was baptized at home on July 1, 1923. She was confirmed in her faith as an adult, on December 11, 1945, in Le Sueur, Minnesota. June attended Lynndale School in West Lynn and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1939. After graduation she took two years of part time secretarial training while working for the high school principal, Ralph Bergstrom.

Over the years June held many jobs as a secretary. She worked at Citizen’s Bank, Green Giant Canning Co. in Le Sueur, and as her husband’s secretary/bookkeeper. She again worked for Mr. Bergstrom, until becoming the first secretary to Warren Macemon at the newly formed Hutchinson Vocational School (now Ridgewater College), for attorney Richard Peterson and Mattson Building in Cokato.

June was married to Herbert Schulz on June 30, 1946, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Except for the years June worked and lived in Le Sueur, she resided in the Hutchinson area. She and Herb lived for over 30 years on Lake Jennie and enjoyed growing a large garden and hosting many events, including the Schulz family picnics. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. June was an avid reader and musician, singing with her sister at events in the area. She enjoyed bowling on a team for Carly’s Shoes, playing Scrabble and card games, especially cribbage each day with Herb.

June was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as council secretary, participating in the handbell choir and serving on the organ committee.

When June could no longer take care of her daily needs, she became a resident of Harmony River Care Center on October, 2016. She passed away there on July 15, 2017.

Blessed be her memory.

June was my mother’s cousin, but I remember June best as the leader of
our Lutheran Girl Pioneers. We had some good times. I especially
remember the trip to Lake Mille Lacs and think of it every time I come
past the lake (which I do about once a year).

So sorry to hear about June. Herb and June would visit my mom when she was at Burns Manor and June always have a smile on her face. When she seen me she would give me her wonderful hug. My thoughts and prayers with your family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing June in high school and as a co-worker at the vo-tech. She was always a generous and kind person. She will be missed by many. May your faith in our Lord to help you through this difficult time .
