Kenneth L. Rand, age 71, husband of Emily, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020, at his home in Glencoe.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, 11:00 A.M., at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment following in the Bethany Reformed Cemetery in Clara City, Minnesota.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.
Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Obituary
Kenneth Lucius Rand was born on August 23, 1949, in Willmar, Minnesota. He was the son of Harm and Elizabeth (Knochenmus) Rand. He received his education in Clara City and was a graduate with the Clara City High School class of 1967. Kenneth furthered his education at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson with a Technical Degree in Non-Destructive Testing.
Kenneth entered active military service in the United States Air Force on March 25, 1969. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 31, 1989, in Grand Forks, North Dakota and achieved the rank of MSGT E7. Kenneth received the highest combat meritorious service medal. He served his country in England, Thailand, Korea, and the United States.
On August 23, 1969, Kenneth was united in marriage to Emily Kloster at Presbyterian Church in Spicer, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Karlin, Kenneth, and Keith. Kenneth and Emily resided the last 23 years on a hobby farm in Green Isle, Minnesota. They shared 51 years of marriage.
Kenneth was a retiree with the Minnesota Department of Transportation as a bridge inspector. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hutchinson, Minnesota, serving as a clerk, Elders Quorum President, Branch President, and High Councilmen.
Ken will be remembered by his love of the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, making precious memories for his grandchildren on his hobby farm with tractor rides, go karts, and four wheeling. He also enjoyed traveling to see family and friends, and the lord’s beautiful countryside. Ken enjoyed working with his colleagues on the Minnesota bridges, going to auctions, working on antique tractors with his brother, and his “JOVIAL”, and heartfelt personality.
He enjoyed serving in his community as a Boy Scout leader, volunteer fireman, Sibley County Fair Board, and a lifelong member with the American Legion Unit 408 in Green Isle, serving as a commander for 4 years.
Kenneth passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020, at the age of 71 years. Blessed be his memory.

Grandchildren, Brendon Hoffart and his wife, Nadieli, Samantha Cotterell and her husband, Simple, Joseph Hoffart and his fiancée, Johanna, Allison Hoffart, and Chance Rand, Lincoln Hoffart, Braxton Rand, Onaleigh Rand, Harm Rand, Evangeline Rand, Lewis Rand, Caden Rand, Cameron Rand;
Brothers, Harm Rand Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, of Chaska, MN,
Danne Rand of Maynard, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his Parents, Harm and Elizabeth Rand; Siblings in infancy, Elizabeth Jean Rand and Allan Lee Rand; Sister, Chereen Jaenisch and her husband, Arnold; Grandson, Eli Rand.
