Service Information

Larry H. Meier, age 81, of Stewart, Minnesota, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

Private Family Graveside Service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stewart.

Public Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Cactus Jacks in Stewart.

Obituary

Larry Harold Meier was born on July 27, 1943 in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Arthur and Lourine (Will) Meier. Larry was baptized as an infant on September 9, 1943, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 27, 1948, both by Rev. M.A. Schulz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota. He attended Stewart High School, where he participated in football, basketball, track, and baseball. Larry graduated with the Class of 1962.

Larry entered active military service in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, and became a member of the 82nd Airborne.

On June 8, 1968, Larry was united in marriage to Betty Winterfeldt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Larry and Betty resided in Stewart for the 56+ years of their marriage.

Larry was employed at Glencoe Manufacturing for 23 years and later at 3M for 17 years. After retirement, he worked at Oakdale Golf Course on a part-time basis. Larry was a life-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. He was also a member of the Stewart Fire Department for 21 years and DeGree Fleisch American Legion Post 125 in Stewart.

Larry’s love of sports continued with playing town team baseball, softball, snowmobile racing, bowling, and golfing. He enjoyed hunting, bow hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. Larry and Betty were also able to make a few trips to NASCAR races. They also enjoyed camping with friends. Larry cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Larry was an all-around nice person and will be dearly missed.

Larry passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 81 years.

Wife, Betty Meier of Stewart, MN;
Twin Brother, Gary Meier and his wife, Naomi of Hutchinson, MN;
Sister, Kathleen Eichelberger and her husband, Chuck of New Brighton, MN;
Brother, Ron Meier of St. Francis, MN;
Sister, Deb Schafer and her husband, Craig of Marshall, MN;
Brother, Steve Meier of Glencoe, MN;
Aunt, Delores Rennecke of Brownton, MN;
Sister-in-law, Janet Mackenthun of Glencoe, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his Parents, Arthur and Lourine Meier; Sister, Karen Kadelbach; In-laws, Walt and Elsie Winterfeldt and Butch and Sam Winterfeldt; Nephews, Scott Eichelberger and Kevin Winterfeldt; Aunts and Uncles.
