Service Information
LaVon R. Sifferath, age 93, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Buffalo Lake Health Care Center in Buffalo Lake.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota, with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brownton, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
LaVon Ruth Sifferath was born on April 16, 1931, in Round Grove Township, rural Stewart, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Wilhelm and Adelia (Kasten) Tabbert. LaVon was baptized as an infant on May 3, 1931, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 27, 1945, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart.
On June 3, 1956, LaVon was united in marriage to Lloyd Sifferath at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. This marriage was blessed with two children, Tim and Mary. LaVon and Lloyd resided on the family farm in Stewart, and later moved into town. They shared 37 years of marriage until Lloyd passed away on April 18, 1993.
LaVon had a number of jobs in her lifetime. She worked at Luther College in New Ulm, and then returned to Stewart where she was a telephone operator. After her marriage, she farmed alongside Lloyd until they moved into town. She also worked at the meat plant, Hands in Hutchinson, ran a film delivery route and was a custodian at Stewart School as well as Form A Feed.
LaVon enjoyed being active in her church and community. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, sewing and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
LaVon passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Buffalo Lake Health Care Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 93 years.

Mary Coy and her husband, Ken of Inver Grove Heights;
Grandchildren, Kayla (Kyle) Kunde, Tanner (Mary) Sifferath, Karly (Brock) Zeller, Cameron (Jessika) Cooper, Austin Cooper, Gabriel (Maddiee) Cooper, Ken Coy, Jim (Amy) Coy;
Great-grandchildren, Mae, Ella, Quinn, Beau, William, Taylen, Ashley, Kayla, Joanna;
Sister, Lucille Kachelmyer of Tacoma, WA;
Brother-in-law, Gary Sifferath of Eagan;
Many other relatives and friends.
LaVon is preceded in death by her Husband, Lloyd; Parents, Bill and Adelia; Sister, Lois Ruhter and her husband, Milton; Brothers-in-law, Bill Kachelmyer and Norman Sifferath.
