Service Information

Leo W. Clobes, age 74, of  Fairfax,  passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 18, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Prayer Service will begin at 4:00 P.M.  Visitation will continue on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Obituary

Leo Walter Clobes was born February 24, 1944, in New Ulm, Minnesota, the son of Otto and Lozina (Hahn) Clobes. Leo grew up with his many brothers and sisters in Fairfax where he received his education.

On July 1, 1967, Leo was united in marriage to Gayle Beaman at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. They made their home in Fairfax, and were blessed with two children, Robert and Kay. Leo was a hard- working man. He first operated a small scrap iron business, and worked road construction. The following many years Leo was the mechanic and manager of Dittmer Oil in Fairfax. He was then employed in the Security and Purchasing Departments at Jackpot Junction Casino, and became the Assistant Property Director.

Leo was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. He was a member of the Fairfax Fire Department for 27 years, and served as the Fire Chief from 1988 to 1996. He was a dedicated NASCAR fan and loved racing. He enjoyed fishing. Leo and Gayle liked to travel, and especially enjoyed a memorable trip to Germany to visit their Granddaughter, Lisa.

Early Friday morning, May 11, 2018, Leo passed away at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, having reached the age of 74 years. Blessed be his memory.

Wife, Gayle Clobes of Fairfax;
Daughter, Kay Radermacher and her husband Greg of Fairfax;
Daughter-in-law, Kristie Clobes of Atlanta, Georgia;
Granddaughter, Lisa Kügler and her husband Fabian of Germany;
Siblings: Rosemary Cuff of Fairfax, Steve (Pat) Clobes of Fairfax, Jean Toren of Bird Island, Mark (Chris) Clobes  of Fairfax, Paul (Rita) Clobes of Fairfax, Alan (Tally) Clobes of Fairfax, Tom (Beth) Clobes of Waverly, John Clobes of Fairfax;
Sister-in-law, Sharon Clobes of Aberdeen, South Dakota;
Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, Bob and Patcine Beaman of Lompoc, California;
Grandpuppy, Leila;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

Leo was preceded in death by his: Son, Robert Clobes; Parents, Otto and Lozina Clobes; Brothers, Ronald Clobes and David Clobes; Sister and Brother-in-law, Carol and Warren Julius; Parents-in-law, Gilbert and Doris Beaman; and by his Brothers-in-law, Jerry Cuff and Jack Toren.
