Service Information

Leonard J. Borth, age 92, of Fairfax, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 12, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018, from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Obituary

Leonard Joseph Borth was born on March 12, 1926 on the family farm in Cairo Township, Renville County, to Joseph and Mary (Berle) Borth. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and attended country school in Cairo Township.

On August 22, 1951, he married Lucille Fahrenkamp at the Catholic Church in Gibbon. He took over the family farm after his marriage and farmed there until retiring in 1989. At that time, they had built a house in Fairfax and moved into town. He continued to help with the farming for many years after retirement.

Leonard was a member of St. Joseph’s Society at St. Andrew’s church and lifetime member of the church.

Leonard and Lucille did extensive traveling in the United States and overseas including visiting with relatives in Germany. They liked to go fishing, going to dances and enjoyed spending time with their family and working with their children while they were in the Cairo Sharpshooters 4-H Club. They were blessed to have celebrated over 66 years of married life and had 9 children.

                        Jim (Barb) Borth of Fairfax, MN,
                        Julie (Carl) Schuette of Owatonna, MN,
                        Pat (Kris) Borth of Rochester, MN;
18 Grandchildren;
14 Great Grandchildren;
Sisters-In-Law, Lorraine Bastian of Gibbon, MN, and Darlene (Ted) Liebl of New Ulm, MN;
God Children, Ron Bastian, Dean Liebl, and Matthew Borth;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his Parents, Joe and Mary Borth; Son, Timmy Borth; Grandson, Nicholas Borth; Sisters, Leona Borth, Delores Jagodzinski, Lorraine Borth; Brothers, Arnold Borth, Clarence Borth and Walter Borth; Brothers-In-Law, Andy Jagodzinski and Ambrose Bastian.
