Service Information
Leroy William Meyer, age 90, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Leroy William Meyer was born on January 20, 1934, in Sumter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of Alfred and Franziska (Graupmann) Meyer. Leroy was baptized as an infant on February 11, 1934, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Pastor E. Kolbe, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 16, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton by Pastor Gerhard Schmidt. He received his education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School Class of 1951. While in high school, Leroy earned the State FFA Degree which is given to the top members of a State FFA Association.
On September 26, 1959, Leroy was united in marriage to Eunice Huser at Bergen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergen Township by Pastor Joel Rustad. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Glencoe and in 1963 they moved to a farm in rural Glencoe. Leroy and Eunice were blessed with two sons, James and Gerald. They shared over 59 years of marriage when Eunice passed away on January 30, 2019.
Leroy farmed all of his life, and it wasn’t just a job for him, farming was his true passion! Leroy was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe and served on the Board of Education and the Constitution Committee.
Leroy enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing at Fowl Lake and Lake of the Woods. He enjoyed traveling and going on summer vacations; he especially enjoyed his trip to Alaska. Leroy greatly cherished the time he spent with his family.
When he needed assistance with his care, Leroy became a resident of GlenFields Living With Care on June 30, 2023, and passed away there on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 90 years. Blessed be his memory.
Leroy is survived by his:
Sons, James Meyer of Glencoe, MN, Gerald Meyer and his wife, Susan, of West Des Moines, IA;
Brother, Duane Meyer of Plymouth, MN;
Other Relatives and Friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his Parents Alfred and Franziska Meyer; Wife, Eunice Meyer; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Harry and Edythe Huser; Sisters, Nancy Meyer, Jane Meyer; Sister-in-law, Claire Larson and her husband, Lloyd; Phil Powers and his wife, Arlene.
