Service Information

Lester W.H. Lindeman, age 94, of Brownton, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

PRIVATE Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Lester’s Farm in rural Brownton.

PUBLIC Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and will continue on Friday from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton.

Social distancing and masks are required.

Military Honors by Brownton American Legion Post #143 Honor Guard.

Obituary

Lester Wilhelm Heinrich Lindeman was born on June 27, 1926, in Penn Township, Minnesota. He was the son of Herman and Elsie (Becker) Lindeman. Lester was baptized on July 18, 1926, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on June 9, 1940, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. He received his education in District 55, rural Brownton and Brownton High School.

Lester entered active military service in the United States Navy on February 5, 1945, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 26, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and achieved the rank of S2C.

On June 27, 1947, Lester was united in marriage to Cevella Wendlandt at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Randall, Ila, and Lynea. Lester and Cevella resided in Penn Township for many years. Lester and Cevella shared 41 years of marriage until the passing of Cevella on August 16, 1988. Lester resided on his farm until the last few years when he needed more care, he then moved to Grand Meadows in Glencoe and most recently became a resident of Harmony River Living Center.

Lester was a lifelong farmer and was also employed as an insurance agent for New Auburn Mutual for 41 years.

He was a member of Brownton American Legion Post #143 for 58 years. Lester was a Deacon and Trustee at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Penn Township Board for 54 years and Brownton School Board for 6 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards especially sheephead and cribbage, watching sports, traveling to Japan and Hawaii. Lester also enjoyed morning coffee at Lindy’s.

Lester passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 94 years. Blessed be his memory.

Ila Rae Grams of Glencoe, MN,
Lynea Godel and her husband, Alan, of Glencoe, MN;
Grandchildren, Alisa Grewe and her husband, Dan, Sarah Lindeman and her husband, Andy Steinbach, Leah Lindeman and her husband, Nate Gunderson, Kaycie Lindeman and her significant other, Neal Peterson, Kimberly Fynboh and her husband, Jeff, Rebecca Grams, Craig Grams and his wife, Anne, Rachel Franklin and her husband, Brian, Ryan Grams and his wife, Kayla, Matthew Godel, Aaron Godel and his wife, Kirsten Severson, Mallory Brown and her husband, Shawn;
23 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild due in August;
Sisters, Verona Katzenmeyer of Hutchinson, MN,
Mary Ann Schatz and her husband, Clarence, of Brownton, MN;
Sisters-in-law, Lillie Lindeman of Brownton, MN,
Donna Reinitz of Glencoe, MN,
Marcella Dose of Arlington, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Lester is preceded in death by his Parents, Herman and Elsie Lindeman; Wife, Cevella Lindeman; Siblings, Irene Bembenek, Rufina Henke, Ella Neubarth, Ada Wendlandt, Elva Wendlandt, Arthur Lindeman, Willmar Lindeman, Elsie Schultz; Son-in-law, Douglas Grams.
