Obituary

Lillian Josephine Taylor was born on March 19, 1929, in Silver Lake, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Josephine (Dvorak) Lorence. Lillian was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. She was a graduate of Silver Lake High School with the class of 1947.

On October 11, 1952, Lillian was united in marriage to Duane Taylor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. This marriage was blessed with three children, Brenda, Susan, and Terese. Lillian and Duane made their home on the family farm in Boon Lake Township where they farmed until moving into Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. They shared 56 years of marriage until Duane passed away on August 24, 2009.

She was a loving homemaker to her husband and children.  Lillian was employed as a bank teller at Citizens Bank & Trust Co. in Hutchinson, Minnesota prior to her marriage to Duane.  After her daughters left for college, she became employed as an administrative assistant at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center where she greatly enjoyed her work and touched many peoples’ lives.  She worked at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center for many years until she retired.

Lillian’s faith was very important to her and she was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector where she was involved in the Altar Society, Church Choir, and Eucharistic Minister while she lived in Buffalo Lake. She also helped out at school when her children were younger.

Family was the most important thing in Lillian’s life.  Her husband and her “three girls” were the lights and loves of her life.  She was very close to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her friends and her cats were also very important to her.  Lillian enjoyed reading books, newspapers, the “funny papers”, and watching the Minnesota Twins baseball team. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, taking pictures, writing cards and letters, decorating for the holidays, current events, collecting plates, Perry Como’s music, and she loved watching birds, especially Cardinals.

Lillian became a resident at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2019. She passed away there on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the age of 91 years.

Blessed be her memory.

Lillian is survived by her:
Children, Brenda Wicks and her fiancé, Keith Jahnz, of Farmington, MN,
                Susan Taylor-Meyers and her husband, David, of Harrison Township, MI,
                Terese Taylor of Minneapolis, MN;
Grandchildren, Taylor (Wicks) Zimbelman and her husband, Greg, of Bemidji, MN,

Great-Grandchildren, Jovienna Zimbelman and Croix Zimbelman of Bemidji, MN;
Sister-in-law, Lucy Lorence of Glencoe, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Lillian is preceded in death by her Parents, John and Josephine Lorence; Husband, Duane Taylor; Sisters, Marge Whalton and her husband, Bob, Angie Olsen and her husband, Harry, Alice Stein and her husband, Everett, and Grace Burich and her husband, Harry; Brother, Erven Lorence.

    So sorry to hear about Lily’s passing. We’ve been thinking about her a lot during COVID and wondering how she was. Now she’s in the arms of her Lord and with Duane.

    I lived across the street from Lil from 2004 to 2014 she was a great neighbor and talker. She loved my tomatoes and cucumbers. I’d set her trash cans out on garbage day.

    “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

    Those who mourn will be comforted and I am praying that in your mourning you may have comfort knowing that Christ has prepared a place for those who love and obey him. That they will enjoy him forever.

    Grace and peace to your family.

    My deepest sympathies on the loss of your Mom. 91 glorious years on earth! I have no doubt it was a Heavenly homecoming for her to be back with your Dad. Your Mom was so nice to me and a joy to be around! I have very fond memories of watching Saturday night live episodes at your family farm in the early 70s. Your parents were so wonderful to put up with a bunch of teenagers. I also remember the shopping trips to the cities and lunch at Brothers deli in Southdale. It was so much fun spending time with all of you!
