Service Information
Lorna A. Nemitz, age 96, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Auburn Home in Waconia, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 P.M., at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Obituary
Lorna Annette (Anita) Neuhaus Nemitz was born March 21, 1928, in Green Isle, Minnesota. She was the youngest child of Helmuth W. and Alvina (Schauer) Neuhaus. Lorna was baptized at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Green Isle Township by Rev. Karl Reuter. She confirmed her baptism vow in the rite of confirmation on March 29, 1942, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Pastor Alfred Streufert. Lorna got her schooling at Stevens Seminary in Glencoe, kindergarten through the 3rd grade, and 4th grade through the 8th grade at First Evangelical Lutheran School. She graduated from Glencoe’s Stevens Seminary in 1946.
She was employed as a typist and proofreader in the office of the purchasing department at Minneapolis Moline Power Implement Company of Hopkins, Minnesota, as was her best friend and classmate, Edna Evelyn Litzau. They found residence as room and boarders at John, Leila, and Carol Karg’s home in Hopkins.
Lorna was united in marriage to Orville M. Nemitz on July 24, 1947, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Pastor Alfred Streufert. The couple was blessed with 4 children, Nancy Jane, Terry Lee, Janey Kaylene, and John Kevin. Lorna was a loving Mother and dedicated homemaker. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage until Orville passed away on August 20, 2013.
Lorna enjoyed her flower gardens, watching and feeding the birds, doing Crossword and Cryptoquip puzzles, oil painting, and ceramics. She also enjoyed writing poetry, making quilts, sewing clothing for her children, and doing embroidery work. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her many pets. Lorna was a longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Ladies’ Aid, the Ladies’ Choir, and the Senior Choir there for many years.
Cherished memories are left to her family, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Lorna passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Auburn Home in Waconia at the age of 96. Blessed be her memory.

Lorna was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Karoline Schauer, Henry and Augusta Neuhaus; parents, Helmuth and Alvina Neuhaus; husband, Orville Nemitz; brothers, Gerhard “Jerry” (Evelyn) Neuhaus, Bernhard “Benny” (Evangeline) Neuhaus; sisters, Elva (Ed) Hafemann, Irene (Ray) Beinke, Della (Henry) Brown, Esther (Art) Dahlen, Hilda (Eddie) Rannow; grandson, Joseph Lee Tallman; sister-in-law, Ruth Nemitz Schiro.
