She was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, by Pastor A. F. Vomhof at St. Peter Lutheran Church as well. Lorraine received her education at rural School District #84 in Bergen Township and at St. Peter Parochial School. She was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School class of 1946.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Elton Bandemer on November 29, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Kevin, Terry, and Brian. Lorraine and Elton shared 66 years of marriage.

In 1958, they returned to Plato, where they made their home and became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In 1972, Lorraine was employed at Plato Woodwork where she remained until 1990 when she retired.
