Obituary

Lorraine Elthea Bandemer was born on March 29, 1928, in rural Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ewald and Mary (Dose) Quast. Lorraine was baptized as an infant on April 22, 1928, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, by Pastor J. A. Schert. She was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, by Pastor A. F. Vomhof at St. Peter Lutheran Church as well. Lorraine received her education at rural School District #84 in Bergen Township and at St. Peter Parochial School. She was a graduate of the Lester Prairie High School class of 1946.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Elton Bandemer on November 29, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Kevin, Terry, and Brian. Lorraine and Elton shared 66 years of marriage.

Lorraine spent her first six years after graduation working in Salinas, California. In 1953, she returned to Plato, Minnesota. After Lorraine and Elton were married, they made their home in Anchorage, Alaska for two years while Elton served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1958, they returned to Plato, where they made their home and became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In 1972, Lorraine was employed at Plato Woodwork where she remained until 1990 when she retired.

Lorraine was an active member of the church quilting group where they stitched together many beautiful quilts for the church missions. She had a strong faith and valued her time spent in discussion with her bible study group. Lorraine cherished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her grand-dog, Oscar. She and Elton shared a love for fishing and watching sports. Great memories were made during the Quast reunions and trips with her siblings to California.

Wow! What a glorious reunion! May you all find comfort knowing that by grace we are saved. It’s not easy to loose our parents, but there is peace and gratification knowing they are at peace- together. Love and hugs to you all, your parents were wonderful people!
