Lorraine R. Bruss

Obituary

Lorraine Rose Bruss was born on March 3, 1931, in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Kramer) Meyer. Lorraine was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education in Gaylord.

On June 2, 1951, Lorraine was united in marriage to LeRoy Bruss at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. After their marriage, the couple farmed in New Sweden Township. She would help on the farm, driving tractor and doing chores. She was a loving homemaker and mother. They retired to Gaylord in 1988. They enjoyed their retirement years with travel to all 48 continental states. They were blessed with five children. Lorraine and LeRoy shared 66 years of marriage.

Lorraine was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and the Ladies Aide.

Lorraine enjoyed flowers, herbs, was an avid gardener, reading, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards with neighbors. She volunteered at Lakeview Nursing Home for 20 years and also at the Herb Garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. In the last winter of her life, she knitted 11 little sweaters to be donated to World Vision. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lorraine passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 87 years. Blessed be her memory. We will always be blessed to remember her kind and gentle spirit.

Grandchildren, Brian Ward and his wife, Kira, Christopher Ward and his wife, Brittany, Jonathan Lee, Jennifer Davis and her husband, Paul, Benjamin Lee and his wife, Jessica, Andrea Palm and her husband, Brian, Sonya Johnson, Aimee Bruss, Jordan Bruss, Nicolas Bruss, Logan Bruss and Hailey Bruss;
Great-Grandchildren, 7 boys and 2 on the way;
Brothers, Raymond Meyer and his wife, Gisela of Winthrop, MN, and Marvin Meyer and his wife, Louise of Gaylord, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her Parents, Ernest and Helen Meyer; Stillborn Son, Dennis.
