Service Information

Lowell W. Kirgiss, age 83, of Hector, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.

Private Family Graveside Service will be held in the United Methodist Church of Hope Cemetery in Osceola Township, Minnesota.

Military Honors provided by the Carl O. Potter American Legion Post 135.

Public Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Obituary

Lowell Wayne Kirgiss was born on March 10, 1937, in Osceola Township, Minnesota. He was the son of John Wesley and Luella May (Hofrock) Kirgiss. Lowell was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at United Brethren Church in Osceola Township, Minnesota. He received his education in Hector and was a graduate with the Hector High School class of 1955.

Lowell entered active military service in the United States Air Force, serving 1958-1962, and received an Honorable Discharge, achieving the rank of A2C E-3.

On August 9, 1986, Lowell was united in marriage to Karen Margaret Feine at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. This marriage was blessed by Lowell’s four children, Mark, Randy, Brenda, and Scott. Lowell and Karen resided in Hector. They shared 34 years of marriage.

Lowell owned and operated the Hector Meat Market and later served as the Transportation Supervisor for the Hector School District.

Lowell loved flying airplanes and cherished giving rides to friends and family. He also enjoyed sailing, water skiing, fishing, boating, and cross-country skiing. Lowell also built a cabin up north. He was a member of New Life Community Church in Hector.

Lowell passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, at the age of 83 years. Blessed be his memory.

Lowell is survived by his:
Spouse, Karen Kirgiss of Hector, MN;
Children, Mark Kirgiss and his wife, Crystal, of West Lafayette, MN, and their children Tyler, Tory and Tate,
                Randy Kirgiss and his wife, Colleen, of Johnson City, TN, and their children Zachary & Bradley,
                Brenda Howe and her husband, Brian, of Greenfield, MN, and their children Tanner, Lauren, Benjamin and Ella,
                Scott Kirgiss and his wife, Shelly, of Vancouver, WA, and their children, Allison, Anthony, and Abigail;
7 Great-Grandchildren;
Brothers, Gene Kirgiss and his wife, Jean, of Hector, MN,
                  Allan Kirgiss and his wife, Joan, of Hector, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Lowell is preceded in death by his Parents, John and Luella Kirgiss.

    Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you at difficult time. May you find strength in your faith and knowing that others share in your grief. I remember fondly Lowel from his meat market days, driving bus and of course from church.

    Lowell will always be remembered as a loving Husband,Father, Grandfather, Uncle, brother in law,Cousin, Mostly importantly Lowell will be remembered as a child of God. One of His great servants here on earth. My prayers are with Karen and all those who mourn the loss of Lowell. May God grant you grace and peace.
