Service Information
Mamie Bielke, age 100, of Gaylord, formerly of Stewart, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in Gaylord, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, and will continue Wednesday for one hour prior to the service, all at church.
Obituary
Mamie Viola Bielke was born April 20, 1918 at home on the farm in Grafton Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, the daughter of Reinard and Bertha (Knaak) Grams. She was baptized on May 19, 1918 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, and confirmed in her faith there on March 29, 1931. Mamie grew up on the family farm in Grafton Township. She received her education at District 8 Grade School, and graduated from the Stewart Public School District 33 with the Class of 1933.
On October 26, 1942, Mamie was united in marriage to Alvin August Bielke in Stewart while he was home on furlough from the Army Air Corps. They made their home and farmed their entire married life in the Stewart area. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Arlen and Ardis. They had shared 46 years of marriage when Alvin passed away on November 26, 1988. Mamie continued to live on the farm until December 1, 2006 when she moved into the Jefferson Apartments in Gaylord. She made her home at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in Gaylord on February 1, 2016.
Mamie was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. She was an active member of W.E.L.C.A., and served in various office capacities. She was also involved with the Home Extension group.
Mamie liked canning the produce from her garden. She also enjoyed baking and crocheting. She also enjoyed singing. Mamie loved her family, and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.
On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Mamie passed away at Oak Terrace in Gaylord, having reached the age of 100 years and one day. Blessed be her memory.
Mamie is survived by her:
Son, Arlen Bielke of Stewart, Minnesota;
Daughter, Ardis Hahn and her Husband, Allen, of Gaylord;
Grandchildren: Kia (André) Adams, Gwen (Sam) Jacobs, and Angela Nelson;
Great-Grandchildren: Austin Hahn (Fiancee, Kyla Schlueter), Hunter Nelson, Ashlee Nelson, Paige Jacobs, and Mark Jacobs;
other relatives, and friends.
Mamie was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Alvin, Sister Esther Grams, and by her Daughter-in-law Cheryl Bielke.
