Margaret Genevieve Anderson

Obituary

Margaret Genevieve Anderson was born February 2, 1924, in Lafayette, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Edith (Isenberg) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at the Rosendale Methodist Church.  Known to many as Jenny, she grew up and received her education at Hillside 53 in rural Cosmos. 

On January 15, 1944, Genevieve was united in marriage to Ilert Anderson.  They made their home in rural Cosmos, Minnesota.  Four children blessed this union.  They farmed, and Jenny also worked at the Cosmos Nursing Home for many years. 

Jenny had a strong faith.  She was a member of Rosendale United Methodist Church, the church she attended while growing up.  When the Cosmos United Methodist Church opened in 1955, Jenny was a charter member.  After the Cosmos UMC closed in 2005, she returned to Rosendale.  She enjoyed working in the churches she belonged to.  She taught Sunday School, and had also served as the president of the United Methodist Women.

Genevieve’s family meant everything to her.  She loved all her grandkids and their families.  Jenny was a wonderful homemaker.  She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and bingo.  She was an avid birdwatcher.  She also had a love for horses and cats.  Jenny and Ilert loved to go dancing, as well.   

Early Saturday morning, December 13, 2014, Genevieve passed away at Ecumen of Litchfield, having reached the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 11 days.  Blessed be her memory.

Genevieve is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Ilert Anderson of Cosmos;

Children:  Richard Anderson of Hutchinson, Valeryn “Sue” Iverson and her husband Roger of Willmar, and Connie Servin of Hutchinson;

Grandchildren:  Troy (Devedah) Iverson, Todd (Marci) Iverson, Tanya (Brian) Hinrichs, Trent (Jill) Iverson, Chad Beilke, Cory (Deidra) Beilke, Desiree (Perry) Henke, MaKayla Servin, Kallie Anderson, Darci (Jim) Landvick;

Great-Grandchildren:  Trevor (Tara) Iverson, Britt (Ashley) Iverson, RheAnna Iverson, Shaila Iverson, Preston Iverson, Julia Iverson, Tayah Hinrichs, Brandon Hinrichs, Brooklyn Hinrichs, Aylah Iverson, Isaiah Iverson, Caleb Beilke, Cameron Beilke, Halii Beilke, Kourtny Beilke, Kylee Beilke, Kayden Beilke, Maeson Henke, Samantha Landvick, Christopher Johnson;

Great-Great-Grandchildren:  Kaden Iverson, Kaylee Iverson, Kari Iverson, Kohlson Iverson, Averie Iverson, Gunner Iverson, Brynley Hernandez;

many other relatives and friends.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her Parents, Son Gerhardt “Gary” Anderson, Granddaughter Kimberly Johnson, and by her siblings: Arvid Johnson, Eudora Shiro and husband Arnold, Raynard Johnson and wife Adeline, Everette “Spud” Johnson and wife Eleanore.
