Obituary

Marie Adeline (Stoeckmann) Hebeisen was born on July 19, 1919, at home in rural Hamburg, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ernst and Marie (Proehl) Stoeckmann. Marie was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. She received her early education at the Hamburg Parochial School in Hamburg through the 8th grade. She graduated from Glencoe, Minnesota, with the Glencoe High School class of 1938.

On April 20, 1940, Marie was united in marriage to Milton Frederick Hebeisen by Rev. H.J. Bouman at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Hamburg for 18 years, Norwood Young America for 45 years, and in 2003, they became residents of Orchard Estates in Glencoe. The couple was blessed with two children: Bruce and Gail. Marie and Milton shared over 66 years together when Milton passed away on December 4, 2006.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Marie also worked various part-time jobs over the years. Marie was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. She served with the altar guild and the Missionary League.

Marie loved to travel with her husband, Milton, other relatives, and friends. They traveled to Germany, Alaska, Texas, and the East Coast, to name a few. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games like Sheepshead. She was a part of a card group that played 500 for over 30 years, and they called themselves “The Sewing Club.” Marie also enjoyed dancing, and any time there was a baby to snuggle or children to play games with, she was all in. Spending time with family and friends, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was time she truly cherished most.

Marie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at The Estates at Delano in Delano, Minnesota, at the age of 105 years, 8 months, and 28 days. Blessed be her memory.

I know none of you will know me. I am a member of St. John’s. Gail, I want to tell you that growing up I always admired your mother. Marie was always dressed impeccably and her jewelry was beautiful as her clothes, and her hair was always pretty and perfect. And your dad, who was as put together as your mom stood proudly at her side. She was so kind, and always smiling. And, when I became an adult, the Marie I admired as a little girl was the same one from my childhood. Reading her obituary I was so surprised to read that her brother was Ernie. My husband is from Glencoe and living there for a while I got to know Ernie and Moxie. They were special. I felt I could in some way honor the oldest member of our congregation. My sincere sympathy and God’s peace be with you.

Marie and Milton took my Mother, Bernice Hutter along to St. Peter’s in Delano for grandparents day once or twice, after Dad died and mom moved to Orchard Estates. I did Marie’s hair for a good many years, and we had many interesting conversations. She was a peach!
How blessed you are to have had your mom in your life for such a long time. God is so good! May Marie have
eternal rest, and let perpetual light shine on her soul!
