Marie R. Swisher

Obituary

Marie R. Swisher was born on December 12, 1926, in LeLand, Winnebago County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry and Jennie (Oster) Renicker. Marie was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education at a Country School in Wooden, Iowa, until the 8^th Grade. She continued her education in Buffalo Center, Iowa, and was a graduate of the North Iowa High School Class of 1945.

On October 28, 1950, Marie was united in marriage to Ivan Swisher, at Grant Church in Winnebago County, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with three children, Rhonda, Eileen, and James. Marie and Ivan resided in Ellsworth Township, Darwin, Minnesota. Marie and Ivan shared 54 years of marriage until Ivan passed away on June 20, 2004.

Marie was employed at Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel, Minnesota, for five years and 3M Company for over 22 years. She retired in 1989. Marie was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County. She worked with Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school. Marie helped the 3M Retirement Club organize charities and leisure activities.  Marie did volunteer work for many years at Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel.

Marie enjoyed tending to her garden. She also enjoyed crocheting and loved to travel. She especially cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Marie passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her home in Darwin, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years.

2 Great Grandchildren, Carson Brown and Cael Brown;

Marie is preceded in death by her Husband, Ivan Swisher; Parents, Harry and Jennie Renicker; Grandchild, Meggann Brown; Sisters, Irene Nelson, Alice Jandl; Brother, Martin Renicker.
