Service Information

Marilyn Sell, age 80, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday.

Memorials preferred to donor’s choice in memory of Marilyn.

Obituary

Marilyn Pauline (Schmidt) Sell was born on June 23, 1939, in Brownton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Rademacher) Schmidt. Marilyn was baptized as an infant on July 16, 1939, by Rev. E. Schmidt and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 24, 1953, by Rev. R. W. Koepp both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. She received her education in Brownton, Minnesota, graduating with the Brownton High School Class of 1957.

On December 16, 1961, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ronald “Ron” Sell by Rev. R. W. Koepp at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Ron and Marilyn made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Sandy and Dave. Marilyn and Ron shared over 58 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Marilyn worked at the Municipal Electric Plant in Glencoe, Minnesota for 31 years as a bookkeeper. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. As her ministry to the church, she proudly served on the altar guild.

Marilyn cherished the time spent with family and friends, especially her precious time with the grandchildren and attending their activities. Her specialty was homemade pies which were enjoyed by many at family gatherings. Socializing with friends and dressing up to celebrate birthdays or anything else they felt worthy were events Marilyn loved to participate in. Marilyn also enjoyed the many miles she spent walking with her friend, Norene.

Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Daughter, Sandra Boesche and her husband, Barry, of Glencoe, MN;
Son, David Sell and his wife, Jodi, of Glencoe, MN;
Grandchildren, Breana Kidrowski and her husband, Douglas,

Peyton Sell;
Siblings, Ruth Fredrickson and her husband, Bob,
Lloyd Schmidt and his wife, Pat,
Barb Peik and her husband, Chuck,
Judy Schumann and her husband, Dale;
Brothers-In-Law & Sisters-In-Law, JoAnn Schmidt,
Arlene Sebring,
Jean McGuire,
Sharon Czycalla and her husband, Charlie,
Ginette Schwarze;
Special Friend, Norene Schuette;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her Parents, Herman and Elsie Schmidt; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Melvin and Esther Sell; Brothers, Earl Schmidt, Howard Schmidt; Sister, Eileen Gratz; Brothers-In-Law, Richard Gratz, Leo Sebring, Dennis McGuire, Rodney Schwarze.
