Mark Douglas Boesche, age 70, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 6:00 P.M., at Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, followed by time for sharing memories.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M., two hours prior to the service at the chapel.
Obituary
Mark Douglas Boesche was born September 8, 1953, in Arlington, Minnesota. He was the son of Victor and Laura (Stradtmann) Boesche. Mark was baptized and later confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1971. Mark furthered his education at St. Cloud State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.
On June 9, 1974, Mark was united in marriage to Christine Roth at First Congregational Church in Glencoe. The couple was blessed with four beautiful children; Joshua, Tricia, Michael, and Andrew. The couple made their home in Glencoe and were married for almost 50 years. Mark was employed at 3M in Hutchinson as a quality technician for 38 years.
Mark loved to be moving and looked for any reason to be outdoors. Athletic activities were his great passion, and he was a true advocate for youth sports. He participated in football, baseball and wrestling while in high school. Mark was undefeated during regular season in wrestling his junior year and participated in the state wrestling tournament in 1970.
He played fastpitch softball well into his 50s, as well as golfed and skied. He took his children and grandchildren on annual ski trips to Colorado. Mark faithfully went to the field house in Glencoe daily to work out and play racquetball.
Mark was dedicated to educating kids on the fundamentals and rules of sports and officiated varsity football, as well as basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. He was also an assistant softball coach for the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers softball team.
One of his true joys was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mark was diagnosed with Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency several years ago and was placed on the liver transplant list at the University of Minnesota in September 2023. After a valiant effort to get stronger, he finally succumbed to this disease on April 17, 2024, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Mark is survived by his wife, Christine Boesche of Glencoe, MN; children, Joshua (Missy) Boesche of St. Louis Park, Tricia (Raul) Templonuevo of Minnetonka, Michael Boesche of Glencoe, and Andrew (Ashley) Boesche of Waconia; grandchildren, Austin Boesche, Evelyn McGoff, Mason Boesche, Jack Templonuevo, Madelynn Boesche, and Maxx Boesche; siblings, Gerald (Nancy) Boesche of Monument, CO, Alan (Sheila) Boesche of Alexandria, Kevin (Gayle) Boesche, of Northfield, Bob (Nancy) Boesche, of Golden Valley, and Patty Hegna of Chaska; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan (Jaci) Roth of Surprise, AZ, and Kate (Mark) Roth of Bloomington; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Laura Boesche; sisters, JoAnn Eskelson and Susan Boesche; brothers-in-law, Kyle Hegna and Harvey Eskelson; and nephew, Scott Eskelson.
