Obituary

Mark Glen Kurtzweg was born on July 31, 1965 in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Virg and Marlys (Schatz) Kurtzweg. Mark was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1983. He continued his education at Saint Cloud State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Manufacturing. Mark also attended the University of Saint Thomas for Business Administration.

On September 30, 1989, Mark was united in marriage to Ronda Hartsuiker at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. This marriage was blessed with two children, Mitchell and Jake. Mark and Ronda resided at Lake Stella, Minnesota. Mark and Ronda shared 30 years of marriage. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Dassel.

Mark was employed at DS Smith Worldwide Dispensers for 22 years, with his last assignment as General Manager for North American Operations. He was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Ducks Unlimited and Lake Stella Association.

Mark was a man that was full of life, and he lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting with his boys, brother, father, many friends and his beloved dogs, Sadie and Lacy. He loved fishing with family and friends, sunset cruises on the lake with his wife, snowmobile trips with the guys, motorcycle trips with his brother and all those that meant the world to him. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and going to the cabin in Effie, Minnesota. He was a great cook with his double top secret recipes and had a passion for hosting and keeping friends and family together at the lake. Those who knew Mark best knew they could call him anytime for advice and help; he was our rock. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed. We will cherish our memories and forever keep Mark alive in our hearts.

Mark passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, in Upper Peninsula, Michigan, at the age of 53 years.

Mark is survived by his:
Wife, Ronda Kurtzweg, of Lake Stella, MN;
Sons, Mitchell Kurtzweg of Lake Stella, MN,

    Such devastating news. A man who was full of life, enjoyment and embraced every minute of every day. I can not imagine what a hole he will leave in the lives of Jake, Mitch and Ronda. As with everything Mark did he did it with conviction, desire and great pleasure. My condolences to all his family and that they may continue to live life in Mark’s spirit.

    Ronda and boys~
    I don’t know you but my heart aches for your tremendous, unexpected loss. To have something suddenly thrown at you like this tragedy, is just way to much to be able to cope with at one time. Be kind to yourself and don’t try to do too much. Right now you need to absorb, embrace and love one another, and try to make some sense of this life you have been thrust into. In the meantime I wish you peace and some semblance of comfort as you begin the difficult healing journey. May God hold you closely~
