Obituary

Mark “Rocker” Thomas Weinzetl was born on April 9, 1953, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He was the son of Michael and Eleanor (Schultz) Weinzetl. Mark was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. He received his education at St. Andrew’s Parochial School and was a graduate of the Fairfax High School. He furthered his education at Willmar Vocational College.

On August 18, 1989, Mark was united in marriage to Shelly (Michelle) Lund. After their marriage, the couple resided in Franklin. Mark was blessed with six children and eight grandchildren. Mark and Shelly shared 27 years of marriage.

Rocker had many opportunities in life, he worked road construction for many companies; and was known as the Midnite Rocker when he was on the road as a D.J. (Disc Jockey). Out of all his jobs, his favorite was buying and selling cars; his latest employer was Redwood Auto Sales. He retired in September after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Rocker enjoyed racing, riding motorcycles, driving his old trucks, shooting pool and playing his music loud. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved being their PAPA Rocker.

Rocker passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the age of 63 years. Rocker will be truly missed by his family and so many friends he met through the years.

Rocker is survived by his:
Wife,                Shelly (Michelle) Weinzetl of Franklin, MN;
Children,          Jeremey (Kami),
                          Jesse,
                        Lindsey (Ryan),

Siblings, Joan (Don) Seesz, Judy (Dave) Brown, Jim (Jackie) Weinzetl, and Dennis (Jeanne) Weinzetl;

    I am so very sorry and saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. He was an amazing man…always full of laughter and smiles. I met him many years ago when a bunch of us would go down to the Hill Top and he would DJ. He was a lot of fun…made sure we all had a good time! God bless you Rocker and God bless your family and friends.

    I just found out about marks passing away today. I almost dropped to my knees and cried. Cried I did, cried harder than I have over anyones passing in years past, my friend and mentor was taken away without my having the chance to say thank you to him for everything he ever did for me, I’ve tried on so many different occasions to make my way back to visit others and my priority was rocker simply because no matter what I ever needed and even a couple of things I wanted he some how produced them. He never walked away from me when I needed someone to talk to and always shared his wisdom and always led me to the avenue that was the best possible way to reach my final destination. I have only myself to blame for never getting to say thank you to him for all he had ever done for me but I know in my heart that he knows exactly what I was going to say had I ever gotten the chance and he now knows just how much I appreciated him. God was good to me for bringing mark into my life and I am more than grateful. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for being fortunate enough to know rocker and express my most sincere condolences to shelly and all of their children and grandchildren.
    Your truly
    Douglas Johnson
