Marlys Adeline Barfknecht

Obituary

Marlys Adeline (Becker) Barfknecht was born on November 29, 1944, in Brownton, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Alfred and Adeline (Pischke) Becker.  Marlys was baptized as an infant in December of 1944, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 30, 1958, both by Rev. Hartenberger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dryden Township, Mountville, Minnesota. She received her education in Glencoe, Minnesota, graduating with the Glencoe High School Class of 1962.

On August 18, 1967, Marlys was united in marriage to Daryl Barfknecht by Rev. Hartenberger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dryden Township, Mountville, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with two children, Dawn and Daren.  On August 31, 1995, Marlys was united in marriage to Henry Seil by Rev. Harvey Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran church in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Marlys made her home in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Marlys and Henry shared over 13 years of marriage until Henry passed away on October 31, 2008.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, during her lifetime Marlys worked at Fingerhut in Gaylord, Schlauderaff Implement, Green Giant and First Evangelical Lutheran School in Glencoe, Hands in Winthrop and Young America Corporation in Norwood Young America.  Marlys was a member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. 

Marlys enjoyed playing cards, sewing and gardening.  She loved spending time with her friends and family especially her children and grandchildren.

Marlys passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 28 days.  Blessed be her memory.

Son, Daren Barfknecht and his wife, Marlene, of St. Peter, MN;
Grandchildren, Courtney Wolff, Ethan Wolff, Brittney Wolff, Kalvin Barfknecht, Keaton Barfknecht;
Brothers, Wilbert Becker and his wife, Helen, of Hutchinson, MN,
Ernie Becker of Gaylord, MN,
Alfred Becker Jr. and his wife, Marlys, of New Auburn, MN,
Harvey Becker and his wife, Elaine, of Hutchinson, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Marlys is preceded in death by her Parents, Alfred and Adeline Becker; Husband, Henry Seil; Brother, Clarence Becker.
