Service Information

Marlys Klaustermeier, age 85, of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at her home in Lester Prairie, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 9, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church.

Memorials preferred.

Obituary

Marlys Mae (Schuette) Klaustermeier was born on August 31, 1934, at her home in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Annette (Groth) Schuette. She was baptized as an infant on September 16, 1934, by Rev. Henry Weertz and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 16, 1948, by Rev. Gerhard Schmidt both at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Marlys received her education in Brownton, Minnesota, graduating with the Brownton High School Class of 1952.

On May 15, 1957, Marlys was united in marriage to Hillard Herman Klaustermeier at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Marlys and Hillard made their home on their farm in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, John and Paul. Marlys and Hillard shared over 62 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Marlys helped on their farm until 2009 when she retired. She also worked at Montgomery Ward in New Ulm, Minnesota, as the manager of the catalog department. Marlys was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She was also a member of the Home Extension Group and the Lester Prairie American Legion Auxiliary Post #95 for over 50 years.

Marlys enjoyed sewing, making pottery and gardening. She loved watching the Wheel of Fortune and the Minnesota Twins. She treasured the time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren who were so important to her.

Marlys passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at her home in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 1 day.

Husband, Hillard Klaustermeier of Lester Prairie, MN;
Sons, John Klaustermeier and his wife, Lynn, of Odenville, AL,
Paul “Shorty” Klaustermeier of Lester Prairie, MN;
Grandchildren, Kayleigh Mailhes and her husband, Justin,
Steven “Chase” Klaustermeier and his wife, Julie,
Blake Klaustermeier and his wife, Margaret “Maggie”;
Great Grandchildren, James Mailhes, Wray Mailhes, John Charles “Charlie” Klaustermeier;
Brothers, Grant Schuette and his wife, Bonita, of Brownton, MN,
Gary Schuette and his wife, Joyce, of Walker, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Marlys is preceded in death by her Parents, Alfred and Annette Schuette; Sister, LaVonne Draeger and her husband, Raphael.

    We always enjoyed the visits with you over many years, Marlys was an energetic, fun person to visit with. We and many will miss her.
