Mary Smoldt, age 63, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Obituary

Mary Lou (Neid) Smoldt was born on March 22, 1957, in Brown County, Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alois John and Lucille Ann (Matter) Neid. Mary was baptized as an infant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth at Church of St. Pius X ink Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education in Glencoe, Minnesota, graduating with the Glencoe High School Class of 1976.

On September 8, 1984, Mary was united in marriage to Louis Henry Smoldt, Jr. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe, Minnesota. Mary and Louis made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Cecily and Angela. Mary and Louis shared over 36 years of marriage.

Mary worked at Starkey in Glencoe, Minnesota in the Shipping/Receiving Department. She was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe, Minnesota. As her ministry to the church,

Mary enjoyed fishing, cruising in the convertible, going out with friends and traveling, especially to Vegas/Laughlin. Family was very important to her and she treasured the time spent with them and her friends.

Mary passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota, at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Lillian Krueger of Arlington, MN,
Alsaycia Hahn of Glencoe, MN,
Michael Hahn of Glencoe, MN;
Great Grandchild, Cadance Hinze, Jayce Hinze;
Sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Wachter and her husband, Jon, of Mankato, MN,
Debra Montgomery and her husband, Curt, of Cottage Grove, MN;
Brothers, Robert Neid and his wife, Susan, of Glencoe, MN,
Kevin Neid and his wife, Shelly, of Glencoe, MN,
Leon Neid and his wife, Lori, of Stewartville, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her Parents, Alois and Lucille Neid.

    What a great person! God, you just got one of the best angels ever! Mary you were always so much fun! At work and at the bar! My heart hurts knowing that not seeing you around and getting picked on! (LOL!) Love you and will miss you SO much!!! RIP dear friend. See you on the other side!!!

    Our sincerest sympathy to smarts family. We bought our first camper from her and Louie. Then we met up every year at Winstok. Great lady. Blessed be her memory and may your memories bring you peace at this difficult time.

    My heart hurts for the Smoldt and Neid families. We had many fond memories with Mary and her family. We graduated together and chummed around. You will truly be missed by all who met you. RIP my friend.
