Service Information
Mary Miller, age 98, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the funeral chapel from 8:00-9:00 A.M. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Miller was born on October 4, 1919, in Birch Cooley Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Slane) Gallery. Mary was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Birch Cooley Township. She received her education in Bird Island and Hutchinson, Minnesota, graduating in Hutchinson.
On October 6, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Melville Miller at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Birch Cooley. This marriage was blessed with five children, Kay, Mary Lynne, Daniel, Catherine, and John. Mary and Mel resided in Redwood Falls, and later moved to Hutchinson. They shared 48 years of marriage until Mel passed away on September 16, 1990.
Mary and Mel owned and operated the Red and White Food Store in Hutchinson for four years. She retired in 1995. Later they worked at Red Owl Grocery Store. Mary was an active member of St Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson where she was involved in various Church activities. She was active in Council of Catholic Women.
Mary enjoyed playing the card game Bridge and attending church activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
When Mary needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Harmony River Living Center on March 9, 2016. She passed away there on Friday, December 29, 2017, at the age of 98 years.

Mary is preceded in death by her Parents, Daniel and Margaret Gallery; Husband, Melville Miller; Infant Child; Daughter, Kay Peterson; 2 Infant Sisters; Sister, Genevieve Mertz and her husband, Mel; Brothers, Robert Gallery and his wife, Zelda, John Gallery and his wife, Margaret, Edward Gallery and his wife, Olive, and Charles Gallery.
