Obituary
Michael Edward Ziemer was born June 6, 1962, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The son of August and Patricia (Ytzen) Ziemer. Mike was baptized on July 22, 1962, and later confirmed in his faith. He was a member of the 1980 graduating class of Larimore High School, Larimore, North Dakota, and received his accounting degree from the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota.
Mike was united in marriage to Kim Marie (McLaren) Landis on February 24, 2014, after many years together. Mike had a long career in the gaming world in the role of Finance Director. He was able to share his depth of knowledge and endless contacts with his team members. He and Kim have resided in Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, and West Virginia and were in process of returning to Iowa. The highlight of his career came when he was selected to be a part of the transition team for a new property in Darwin, Australia. During this time, he lived in Australia to prepare for the transition.
Mike loved his time in Australia, and at the end of the project, Kim was able to join him. His employer Delaware North had arranged a travel itinerary that resulted in a three week “trip of a lifetime,” ending in New Zealand. He found joy in riding his Harley Davidson and exploring the countryside with Kim. Spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends were an important part of his life.
Mike passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2022, at the age of 59. He was able to one up Kim, by “being forever young.”
Mike is survived by his loving wife Kim; two sons Samuel (Julia) Ziemer and Daniel (Megan) Ziemer; step-children: Christopher Landis; Jenna (Justin) Kyllo; and Paul Landis; His pride and joy grandchildren: Tatum Ziemer, Nikola & Valeria Smirnov; Noah and Adelyn Ziemer; Logan Kyllo; Lane Landis; Loa Landis; his parents August and Patricia (Ytzen) Ziemer; his sister Yvonne (Dean) McCoy and brother Jason (Stephanie Beito) Ziemer; and a niece & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his “faithful dogs” Anna & Bo, and other relatives.

I have unfortunately just heard about this and I’m terribly sorry for the Ziemer family’s loss. Mike was always very welcoming and protecting of our finance team when he was at the Island and I do regret never really getting a chance to say goodbye and thank you for believing in me even when at times I feel I didn’t believe in myself.
Thanks again for the many years of guidance. Rest easy.
