Muriel D. (Peterson) Von Berge, age 89, of rural Plato, formerly of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, 11:00 A.M., at Frieden’s United Church of Christ (County Line) in rural Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with interment following in the Ferguson Cemetery in rural Norwood Young America.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., two hours prior to the service, ALL at the church.
Obituary
Muriel Darlene (Peterson) Von Berge was born on July 7, 1936, in Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Elmer and Agnes (Janneke) Peterson. Muriel was baptized as an infant on August 2, 1936, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 18, 1951, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She received her education in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1954.
On December 8, 1961, Muriel was united in marriage to Harold Von Berge at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. The couple made their home on a farm east of Plato, Minnesota. They were blessed with two sons, Jim and Jerry. Muriel and Harold shared over 63 years of marriage.
Muriel was a devoted mother and homemaker who also helped on the family farm. In addition to caring for her family, she worked at Citizens State Bank in Hutchinson as a bank teller. She later worked at Rural Electric Association in Glencoe, Minnesota, and following that at Hillcrest Café & Catering in Hamburg, Minnesota. Muriel was a faithful and active member of Friedens United Church of Christ (County Line) in rural Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Muriel enjoyed many hobbies, including tending to her large and beautiful garden. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and caring for her cats. She also loved taking trips to the casino. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was time she truly cherished.
Muriel passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 5 days. Blessed be her memory.

Sons, Jim Von Berge and his wife, Renee, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Jerry Von Berge and his wife, Rebecca, of Byron, MN;
Grandchildren, Andrew Von Berge, Brooklyn Von Berge, Dillon Von Berge, Kelsey Von Berge, Ashley Von Berge;
Siblings, Lavonne Kaufman of Hutchinson, MN, Lois Hoffman of Hutchinson, MN;
Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, LeRoy Von Berge of Plato, MN, Marlene Kroells of Green Isle, MN, Vernon Von Berge of Glencoe, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Elmer and Agnes Peterson; Siblings, Duane (Marcella) Peterson, Omar (Edith) Peterson, Lowell (Barb) Peterson, Lloyd (Loretta) Peterson; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Herbert and Malinda Von Berge; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Gary Hoffman, Hillard Kaufman, Joyce Von Berge, Wallace Kroells, and Marlys Von Berge.
The family would like to thank Grand Meadows and Ridgeview Hospice staff for their heartfelt care of Muriel.

I am so sorry for the loss of Muriel. I was privileged to have her as a hair customer and friend for several years. She was a sweet wonderful woman, who loved to talk about her family. She was proud of you. May she rest now, in eternal peace.
