Service Information

Ricardo “Rick” Stiles, age 68, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., two hours prior to the service at the church.

Military Honors by the Glencoe Military Honor Guard.

Obituary

Ricardo “Rick” Dale Stiles was born on February 3, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Kenneth and Diane (Svitak) Stiles. Rick was baptized as an infant on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955, at Crystal Bay Presbyterian Church and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 30, 1969, by Reverend Fred Iseli, at Frieden’s (County Line) Church in rural Norwood Young America. He received his education in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, and graduated with the Central High School class of 1973.

On September 20, 1973, Rick entered active military service and served in the United States Army. Rick received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter (rifle) award. He received an Honorable Discharge on September 17, 1976.

On April 28, 1979, Rick was united in marriage to Julie Brinkman at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Glencoe. Rick was first employed at Super Valu in Glencoe. Following that he worked as a mechanic at various locations. Amid that, he worked at Al’s Auto Sales in Glencoe, detailing vehicles. Some years later, Rick was employed at Lano Equipment in Norwood Young America in the parts department. Most recently, Rick was employed at Midwest Machinery in Glencoe, and part-time at Menards in Hutchinson; retiring in 2022. Rick and Julie were blessed with three children, Brian, Jason, and Eric. They shared over 44 years of marriage.

Rick was an active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe,  serving as the trustee for 3 years. Rick was a part of the local Pheasants Forever Chapter for 7 years.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman; spending time outdoors doing just about any activity was what he enjoyed most. This included hunting, fishing, tending to his flower beds and vegetable gardens, and bird watching. Rick loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Echo.

Rick passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota, at the age of 68 years. Blessed be his memory.

Rick is survived by his:
Wife, Julie Stiles of Glencoe, MN;
Children, Brian Stiles and his wife, Kristi, of Winsted, MN,
                Jason Stiles and his wife, Melissa, of Willmar, MN,
                Eric Stiles and his wife, Candace, of Glencoe, MN;
Grandchildren, Kayley Stiles, Carson Stiles, Harper Stiles, Hank Stiles, Abigail Stiles;
Mother, Diane Stiles of Norwood Young America, MN;
Brother, Todd Stiles of Norwood Young America, MN;
Sister, Kathi Honeck and her husband, Scott, of McGrath, MN;
Canine Companion, Echo;
Other relatives and Many friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his Father, Kenneth Stiles; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Earl and Jeannette Brinkman; and Sister-in-law, Mary Stiles.
