Service Information

Richard J. Mathiowetz, age 82, of Fairfax passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Fairfax Community Home. 

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Obituary

Richard John Mathiowetz was born in Sleepy Eye on August 19, 1938. He met Agnes Homan and they married on August 25, 1959, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.

Richard moved his family to Fairfax in 1962, and farmed for 12 years. He then started his own trucking business and drove truck for 35 years before retiring.

Richard was an avid fan of restoring antique tractors and in his later years, restored over 200 tractors.

Richard is survived by his:
Wife, Agnes;
Children, Kelvin,
                  Myron (Lynn),
                  Kristi Lang,
                  Mary Hillmer, and
                  Julie;
eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren, with number seven  on the way;
Brothers, Pat (Jane) and Duane (Carol).

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Loretta Mathiowetz; brothers, Ronnie, Gerald and Lowell; sister and brother-in-law, Luverne and Marlys Haala; son, Danny; daughter, Karen, son-in-law, Loren Hillmer.
