Service Information

Richard Wendlandt, age 76, of Hamburg, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, MN.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, with interment following at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, 4:00- 7:00 P.M., at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday.

Obituary

Richard William Wendlandt was born on April 28, 1942, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Bert and Hilda (Mueller) Wendlandt. Richard was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in his faith at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota. He received his education at Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg, Central High School in Norwood Young America graduating with the Class of 1960, and Mankato State University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.

Richard lived his entire life in Hamburg. He was blessed with three daughters, Robynne, Kristen and Nicole.

As part owner of Wm. Mueller & Sons Inc. in Hamburg, Richard served as Secretary/Treasurer and President before retiring in 2010. Richard was a faithful member at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg where he served in various positions as an Elder, Treasurer and President. He also was a member of the Hamburg Commercial Club, State Bank of Hamburg board and the Hamburg Fire Department.

Richard enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, dancing, bowling, golfing and playing cards, especially sheephead. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder of the Minnesota Vikings. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends. His greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren in their activities.

Richard passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Richard is survived by his:
Daughters, Robynne Schoenbauer and her husband, Eric, of Hamburg, MN,
Kristen Rickaby and her husband, Jeff, of Hamburg, MN,
Nicole Bullock and her husband, Tom, of Parker, CO;
Grandchildren, Samantha Schoenbauer, Hunter Rickaby, Holden Rickaby, Joshua Lamberson, Jacob Lamberson;
Sister, Darlene Fasching and her husband, Alan, of Minnetrista, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Hilda Wendlandt; grandson, Codey Schoenbauer; sister, Karen Smith and brother-in-law Rick (Trooper) Smith.

    Your father’s service as a board member at the State Bank of Hamburg was greatly appreciated. He always talked fondly about his children and grandchildren which I know were the love of his life. He will truly be missed and you’re in our thoughts and prayers.

    Uncle Richard you will be greatly missed. Like Grandpa, you never said much but we always knew you were there for everyone.
