Obituary

Ricky Lee Huls was born September 12, 1954, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Alvin and Marjorie (Nenow) Huls. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and remained a member there throughout his life. Ricky grew up on the family farm just three miles west of Hector, where he continued to live all his life.  He graduated from the Hector High School in 1973.

On May 5, 2001, Ricky was united in marriage to Tammy Grejtak at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. Rick, Tammy, and Anika made their home on the Huls family farm. Rick was employed as the custodian at the Hector High School. For a period of time in their off hours, Rick and Tammy teamed as the custodians for First Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. Rick also kept busy farming and gardening.

Rick liked classic cars. He enjoyed taking drives to Wabasha, Minnesota, with Tammy and friends. He also enjoyed the trip they all took to Ely. One of his favorite pastimes was driving around, looking at fields and different scenery. A tall, quiet man with a big smile and beautiful curly hair, Rick bravely faced his illness and his last days in Hospice.

On a beautiful Sunday morning, August 28, 2016, Rick breathed new life with his loving family by his side. He had reached the age of 61 years, 11 months, 16 days. Blessed be his memory.

Rick will forever be remembered by his:

Wife, Tamara Huls, of Hector, Minnesota;

Daughter, Anika Grejtak, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota;

Brother, Curtis Huls, and his wife, NaLea of Hutchinson, Minnesota;

Niece, Michelle (Kyle) Carrigan, of Glencoe, Minnesota;

Nephew, Jamey (Karin) Huls, of Rising Sun, Maryland;

Niece, Lacey (Tim) Schuette, of Plato, Minnesota;

Other relatives, and many friends.

Ricky was preceded in death by his Grandparents, his Parents, Alvin and Marjorie Huls, and other family members.
