Service Information

Robert “Bob” R. Wagner, age 90, of Glencoe, Minnesota, formerly of Arlington, Minnesota, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington.

Memorial Service will be Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe with private family interment in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Brownton, Minnesota.

Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service, at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel.

Military Honors by the Glencoe Military Honor Guard.

Obituary

Robert R. Wagner was born on September 1, 1931, in Stewart, Minnesota.  He was the son of Rudolph and Amanda (Doerr) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, MN.

On October 1, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Helen Lindeman at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota by Reverend Victor Schmidt. This marriage was blessed with four sons and one daughter. They shared 56 years of marriage together until Helen’s passing on November 12, 2007. Robert and Helen resided in Brownton, MN, Lawton, OK, and Arlington, MN until they moved to Glencoe, Minnesota in 1990.

Robert lived at his lake home in Garrison, Minnesota for a few years, then moved back to Glencoe and lived at Millie Beneke Manor for 5 years. After his health started to fail and he needed more assistance with his care, he entered Good Samaritan Center in Arlington, Minnesota.

Robert entered active military service in the United States Army on June 4, 1951. He served with the 58th Infantry as a Sergeant and spent 13 months in the Korean War. Robert was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 bronze stars. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Army on May 19, 1954.

Robert worked 35 years as a big truck diesel mechanic at Arlington Cement Works. After Robert retired, he worked part-time at Young America Corporation in Glencoe.

Robert enjoyed his many road trips out to South Dakota. He enjoyed playing cards and just taking drives around the area. Robert greatly cherished his time spent with family and friends.

Robert passed away on Friday, February 4, 2021, at Good Samaritan Center in Arlington, Minnesota, at the age of 90 years old.

           Mike Wagner of Glencoe, MN,
           Randy (Judy) Wagner of Gaylord, MN,
           Mark (Sharon) Wagner of Glencoe, MN;
Daughter, Brenda Wagner of Rapid City, SD;
6 Grandchildren;
9 Great-Grandchildren;
Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Gloria and Richard LaPlante of Pacific, WA;
Sister-in-law, Rose Wagner of Hutchinson, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and Friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his Wife, Helen Wagner; Father and Mother, Rudolph and Amanda Wagner; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Theodore and Adeline Lindeman; Brothers, Earl Wagner and his wife, Arlene,  Dale Wagner and his wife, Dorothy, James Wagner; Nephew, Gene Wagner.

    Sorry for your loss! Bob called our daughter his girlfriend (Audrey) and he loved her so much and she loved when we’d bring her in to say hi to him. He treated our little girl so kind!

    Sorry to here about your dad . Grant,mike,randy,mark, Brenda. I remember him as very nice man. Always smiling. Prayers and sympathy goes to all the family. Mike I will send a card. I also have something to show you. God bless him. From Matthew and Marlys.
