Obituary

Robert Fredrich Zuelke was born January 18, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Fredrich and Norma Zuelke. He was baptized as an infant at First Lutheran Church in Hector, and confirmed in his faith on June 17, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. Bob grew up in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, along with his two sisters. He graduated from Buffalo Lake High School with the Class of 1960. Following graduation, Bob served four years in the U.S. Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge from active duty May 1, 1964. He moved to Hector, Minnesota, and was discharged from the Reserves on August 28, 1966. He married Marilynn Anderson on December 14, 1962.

A longtime resident of Hector, Bob owned and worked at Freddie's cafe, Service Implement and Witte Ford. After moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, he returned to Buffalo Lake and worked at Oakdale Country Club while attending school at Hutchinson Technical College. After graduating with a degree in Metals Testing, Robert moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and worked for GE. Eventually he worked for Rolls Royce in Indianapolis, Indiana where he met and married his second wife, Meriel Hall.

Bob was a positive and kind spirit who could make a friend out of any stranger. He enjoyed golf during the summer and was fortunate to travel to many faraway places while he worked for GE.

Bob passed away on Friday February 2, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana at age 76. His death follows a battle with Alzheimers disease.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn, and parents, Fredrich and Norma Zuelke.

Robert is survived by his second wife, Meriel of Carmel, Indiana; his sisters, Darla (Roger) Lovald of Amery, Wisconsin, and Ann (Ron) Hines of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; sons, Rick of San Diego, California, and Greg (Katrina) of Greenfield, Indiana; daughter, Chris (Ben) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Derik, Devon, Ashley, Dustin, and Jasmine; two great-grandchildren; and his aunts, Eleanor Michelson of Buffalo Lake and Arlene Nelson of Willmar.

So sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. He fought this awful disease for a long time and it took so much of the good life from Bob and Merial. Dick and I enjoyed our fun times with Bob and Merial in Indianapolis. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
