Obituary
Robert Edward Murphy was born on July 10, 1956, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He was the son of Francis and Catherine (Garrahy) Murphy. Robert was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith, both at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Bob or “MURF” as he was often called grew up on the family farm in rural Hector. He attended St. Andrew’s and Fairfax Public schools, graduating from Fairfax High School in 1974. He continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech completing the Diesel Mechanic program.
Throughout his life he had many careers. He worked as a diesel mechanic, farmer, long haul trucker, welder, warehouse worker and tree trimmer. He had an appreciation for antiques and was an avid collector throughout his life. Bob’s easy laugh, willingness to lend a hand and playing cribbage made him a friend to many.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Robert became a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Society and passed away there on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the age of 63 years. Blessed be his memory.
Bob is survived by an extensive family and group of friends. This includes his:

Ronn E Williamson says
It is sad that Bob passed at such a young age. Until visiting him at the Good Samaritan Center recently, I had not seen him for many years. During the short visit, he was active and in good spirits even as he knew his prognosis was terminal. It was inspiring, as was the circle of siblings involved in his care. From the Williamson clan, our deepest sympathy to his family & friends.
