    Davis Family,
Oh how I will miss seeing your Dad wave at me as I would walk into his neighborhood. We shared some fun fishing stories. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Until we can fish again, R.I.P. Sam…

I always liked talking with Sam. I was lucky a couple of weeks ago when I was finishing a volunteer day at Harmony River and the staff there asked if I had extra time to sit outside with Sam. I said sure! We sat out there and talked for a whole hour. During that hour, Sam said it had been so nice outside on a recent day. He said the temp was good and the sun was shining. Then he said that if that was what Heaven was like, he wanted to be there! That is my last memory of Sam and I want to hold onto that one. I will miss him.

So many memories of a little, (actually a lot) of hard work and a boat load of good times. Rest easy Sam. Greet your folks for us.

Sam was a great friend and mentor and we enjoyed many fishing trips together. We compared notes on different projects just about every week for many years and he had a wealth of knowledge in regards to the metal building industry. I will miss his counsel and sense of humor greatly. My best to his family and friends and again I will miss him a lot.
    Thanks,
    Steve Lambert

Sam was quite the guy, good for some offbeat wisdom and a good chuckle at the same time. Always interested in his family, his co-workers and friends, the man always cared for and took time to talk to and about, all three. The outdoors were special to Sam, and he enjoyed all that nature had to offer. As he liked very much to spend time on the lake fishing, I always appreciated the fact that he would treat big, overgrown sunfish with some respect, just as any other trophy fish. He would say, “Throw those big ones back so somebody else can catch ’em. There’s plenty of little ones to eat.” Non profits and civic organizations also benefited from his generosity, as he was always willing to contribute to the cause or buy a big bunch of raffle tickets, with winning a prize being the last thing on his mind. Some days I would drag a sack of freshly smoked game; fish, goose, venison or duck over for him to sample and share. He would chuckle and remark, “This isn’t gonna make it any farther than my desk. Thank you.” Thank you Sam, I’ll miss ya, Mark Minnick
