Born February 17, 1932 in Brown County, MN. Son of Benjamin & Helena (Trebesch) Straumann.
He was baptized as an infant in Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, MN and was confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN.
Robert Married Patricia Martin Kerr in Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN on February 17, 1954 (his birthday!).
They had 3 children: Sandra Lee, Jon Robert, and Charles Walter.
They made their home and farmed in rural Springfield, MN.
In 1959 they moved to rural Lake Lillian farm.
In 1960 they joined Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, MN where Robert served on the Sunday School board.
Later, they moved to their rural farm by Grove City after farming for over 50 years.
They retired and traveled visiting many states in southwest USA.
In 2009 they bought their present home in Cosmos, MN.
Robert’s biggest joy was his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease them. He loved to watch them play baseball or just have fun.
He loved concertina “Old Time Music” and dancing.
He enjoyed being a self-made carpenter. He always made something that would make it easier for someone else, but never made anything for himself.
He always had a garden, fed the birds and squirrels which made him content in the later years.
His favorite food was “Old Fashioned Rice Pudding”.
The only thing he liked about fishing was “eating them!”
He loved to play cards and beating anyone who would play Yahtzee with him.
Robert passed peacefully away on the early morning of May 14, 2021 at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, MN.
