Ronald J. Nordin

Obituary

Ronald John Nordin was born on December 4, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Ernest and Esther (Anderson) Nordin. Ron was baptized as an infant on May 26, 1935, in Minneapolis, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Minneapolis, and was a graduate of the Roosevelt High School Class of 1953.

Ron entered active military service in the United States Army on September 21, 1955, in Minneapolis, and served his country during Peace Time. He received an Honorable Discharge on September 6, 1957, at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and achieved the rank of Specialist Third Class.

On September 12, 1959, Ron was united in marriage to Julie Ness. This marriage was blessed with four sons, Bret, Richard, Scott, and Mark. Ron and Julie later divorced.

Ron resided in Minneapolis, and then later moved to Glencoe, Minnesota. He was a self-employed insurance agent for 20 years in Glencoe. Ron was also a driving examiner for the State of Minnesota. He retired in 1994, and in 1999 he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. Ron eventually returned to Minnesota, settling in Hutchinson in 2019.

Ron was a member of DeMolay International, Mason in the Blue Lodge, and the Shriners.

Ron enjoyed stamp collecting, bike riding, and bike trips. He especially enjoyed traveling to Hong Kong, China, and Russia. Ron cherished spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Ron passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 89 years.

Ron is preceded in death by his Parents, Ernest and Esther Nordin; Son, Mark Nordin; Sisters, Jane Nordin and Muriel Carlsen.
