Ronald L. Waibel, age 74, of Fairfax passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home in Fairfax.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Luvern Waibel was born on September 30, 1950, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He was the son of Donald Wilbert and Helen Marie (Fahey) Waibel. Ron was baptized as an infant at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, Illinois. He received his education in Trenton, Illinois, and was a graduate of the Wesclin High School. Ron was raised in the Catholic faith.
Ron enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard and was Honorably Discharged.
On April 29, 1972, Ron was united in marriage to Lora Pfeffer at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. After their marriage, the couple resided in Minnesota, Kansas, and Indiana. Prior to their marriage Ron resided in Illinois and Germany. They were blessed with two children, Tanis and Donald. Ron was employed as an insurance agent, adjuster, and underwriter. Ron and Lora shared almost 53 years of marriage.
Ron was a member of the Jaycee’s and the Lions Clubs, was a volunteer fireman, a youth basketball and baseball coach, was the Mayor of Balaton, a member of the Balaton Clown Club, and many, many, more. He was an avid sports fan, a golf enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. Ron enjoyed and was good at being a craftsman of an original piece or repurposing older pieces. He loved a wide variety of music, especially Motown and musical theatre.
Ron passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home in Fairfax at the age of 74 years. Blessed be his memory.

Wife, Lora Lee Waibel of Fairfax, MN;
Children, Tanis Marie Waibel of Fairfax, MN, and
Donald Wayne Waibel and his wife, Britt of Mankato, MN;
Grandchildren, Lauren Marie Schreiner of St. Cloud, MN, and Zandra Ann Waibel of Mankato, MN;
Sister, Deb (Waibel) Nachreiner;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
