Service Information
Roy Engelby, age 87, of Winthrop, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Memorial Service will be Monday, November 16, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service, at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel.
Military Honors by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Obituary
Roy Allen Engelby was born on August 9, 1933, in Bay Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Inmar and Anna (Fuller) Engelby. Roy was baptized as an infant in Elmore, Minnesota, by Reverend Ted Mondale, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Liberty Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa. He received his education in Rake, Iowa, and was a graduate of the Rake High School Class of 1951.
On May 25, 1955, Roy was united in marriage to Vera Atwood. They were blessed with five children. They later divorced.
On February 15, 1956, Roy entered active military service and served his country in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Technician Third Grade. Roy was Honorably Discharged on February 14, 1958.
On June 29, 1979, Roy was united in marriage to Karen (Stark) Boeder at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in rural Winthrop and Glenwood, Minnesota. Roy was a mechanic most of his life. He owned and operated Roy’s Auto Repair in Gibbon for many years and worked at Conklin’s and Hands, Inc. in Winthrop.
Roy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop.
Roy was social man, he enjoyed going to fish and steak frys. With Karen by his side, they both enjoyed trips up north to their favorite resort, camping and motorcycle trips. Roy also had a love for pets, especially dogs.
Roy passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax at the age of 87 years. Blessed be his memory.

Steve Engelby and his wife, Shelly of New Ulm, MN,
Randy Engelby and his wife, Peggy of Gaylord, MN,
Pamela Rubischko of Fairfax, MN, and
Michael Engelby and his wife, Marie of Deer River, MN;
11 Grandchildren;
27 Great grandchildren;
Sister, Lillian Eastbold of New Richland, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his Parents, Inmar and Anna Engelby; Wife, Karen Engelby; Grandchild, Branden; Great grandchild, Maverick; and Sister, Eva Ellen Wolff.
