Service Information
Ruby Hardel, age 97, of Gaylord passed away Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Hidden Creek Assisted Living in Chaska.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 3, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016, from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Ruby Selma (Ostermann) Hardel was born on July 11, 1919, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Paul and Wilhelmina (Weise) Ostermann. Ruby was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith, both at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sibley County, Minnesota. She received her education at District #36 Country School in Sibley Township.
On June 10, 1943, Ruby was united in marriage to Ernest Hardel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley Township. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Sibley Township. Ruby worked at Rosenberg’s Egg Plant for 11 years and Green Giant as a husker. Ernest and Ruby were blessed with two children and they shared 65 years of marriage until Ernest passed away on October 15, 2008.
Ruby was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School.
Ruby enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn, sewing, and enjoyed helping families/friends as needed. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Ruby became a resident of the Hidden Creek Assisting Living in Chaska on April 1, 2015, and passed away there on Monday, November 28, 2016, at the age of 97 years. Blessed be her memory.

Darwin Hardel and his wife, Jean of Nicollet, MN;

Great Grandchildren, Ashley Betz, Trisha (Derek Russel) Betz, Shawn Bode and special friend, Sydney Havlik, Dylan Bode, Ryan Bode, Jacob Bode, Brynna Bode, Austin Bode, Abbey Bode, Aiden Bode, Weston Hardel, Nolan Hardel, Greyson Hardel, Ava Bode, Jayden Bode, Desirae Bode, Wyatt Bode;

Ruby was preceded in death by her Parents, Paul and Wilhelmina Ostermann; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, William and Laura Hardel; Sisters, Myrtle (Elmer) Franke and Cora (Alfred) Bauer; Brother, Stanley (Frieda) Ostermann.

Sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was a fun person to chat with. My Sunday School teacher at a young age. Also my birthday twin as we shared the same date. Enjoyed her newsy letters updating me o the family happenings! My sympathy to the whole family at the loss this vibrant lady.
