Russell Christensen, age 92, of Hutchinson, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, 11:00 A.M., at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in the Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2018, one hour prior to the service ALL AT CHURCH.
Obituary
Russell Christensen was born on June 9, 1925, at his home in McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of Ellis and Stena (Olsen) Christensen. Russel was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at Main Street Lutheran Church (now Faith Lutheran Church) in Hutchinson. He received his education through Grade 8 at the District 73 Country School in McLeod County, Minnesota and also two years at the Hutchinson Public School.
On January 14, 1950, Russell was united in marriage to Irene Renna Hanson at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Russell and Irene resided in Hutchinson. They shared 68 years of marriage.
Russell was employed at National Foods Grocery Store as a Produce Manager. He retired in 1986. Russell was a life-long member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Russell enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He also enjoyed playing a game of cards with friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
When Russell needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on October 28, 2017. He passed away peacefully there on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the age of 92 years.

Wife, Irene Christensen of Hutchinson, MN;
Sister, Esther Wagner of Corvuso, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Russell is preceded in death by his Parents, Ellis and Stena Christensen; and Siblings, Hazel Schmandt and her husband, Harold, Evangeline Christensen, Lloyd Christensen and his wife, Irene, and Grace Horky and her husband, Benjamin.
