Ruth Harms Altmeyer, age 95, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 9:30-11:00 A.M., 1-1/2 hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Ruth Amanda (Mueller) Harms Altmeyer was born on December 26, 1921, in Thorp, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of George and Catherine (Henkel) Mueller. Ruth was baptized as an infant on February 27, 1922, by at St. Mary’s Church in Stanley, Wisconsin, and later was confirmed in her faith in 1947, by Pastor Kramer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. She received her education in Wisconsin and went on to attend Miller Vocational Trade School in Minneapolis graduating in 1940.
On May October 25, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to George Harms Jr. by Pastor Hamrin. Ruth and George made their home in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children, George III, Russell, Douglas, Steven, Janet, and Julie. The couple shared over 35 years of marriage together, until George passed away on May 19, 1978. On October 30, 1987, Ruth married Leo Altmeyer in Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Ruth opened her own beauty shop for 30 years named Ruth’s Beauty Shop, and retired in 1987. After retiring she moved to her lake home on Lake John near Annandale, Minnesota, and loved every minute. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Ruth enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She enjoyed her family and friends caring deeply for each and when she could have them visit at the lake for a fish fry, she couldn’t be happier.
Ruth passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia, Minnesota, at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 26 days.

Ruth is preceded in death by her Parents, George and Catherine Mueller; First Husband, George Harms; Second Husband, Leo Altmeyer; Children George III, Russell, Janet Brist, Julie Gerdes; 4 Brothers; 6 Sisters.
