Obituary

Serena Wihelmina (Reinke) Wachholz was born on September 29, 1922, in Waconia, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Charolette (Ohm) Reinke. Serena was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, Minnesota. She received her education in Waconia and earned her GED in 1940.

On April 25, 1945, Serena was united in marriage to Delford Wachholz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Serena and Delford made their home on a farm in rural Waconia Township. In 1970, they moved to Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Serena also lived at Peace Villa and The Haven in Norwood Young America. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Don. Serena and Delford shared over 55 years of marriage until Delford passed away on October 3, 2000.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Serena was a farmwife. She also worked for the Minnetonka School District as a janitor. Serena was a member of the Waconia Moravian Church. She was also the senior citizens director in Waconia.

Serena enjoyed playing sheephead, sewing, making Christmas crafts and selling them at craft shows. She loved the trip she took to the Holy Lands. Serena treasured the time spent with her family and friends.

Serena passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, Minnesota, at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 3 days.

Serena is preceded in death by her Parents, Herman and Charlotte Reinke; Husband, Delford Wachholz; Sister, Clara.
