Service Information

Shirley Mae Cutlar, age 91, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., 2 hours prior to the service at the church.

Memorials preferred to First Congregational United Church of Christ or McLeod County Historical Society.

Obituary

Shirley Mae (Moehring) Cutlar was born April 22, 1932, to Raymond and Marie (Weber) Moehring in Sumter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. Shirley was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth in 1945, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She attended rural McLeod County Schools and graduated from Glencoe High School with the class of 1950.

Shirley was united in marriage to Earlin D. Cutlar on April 4, 1951, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. The couple made their home in and around the Glencoe area before taking over the Cutlar family farm. Shirley and Earlin were blessed with 5 children, Katherine, Sharon, Janis, Colleen, and Jon.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Shirley worked at several local restaurants, Strut-wear, Green Giant, and Telex Communications. She retired from Telex after working there for 17 years. Shirley was a faithful and active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe for 70 years.

Shirley loved to sew, do embroidery, crafting, and needlework. She was a wonderful baker and cook, and was well known for her amazing cookies! After retirement, Shirley enjoyed going dancing and traveling with her friends. She cherished spending quality time with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Shirley passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 2 days. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Steven (Michelle) Kubesh, Jeremy (Pennie Beach) Kubesh, Todd (Sarah) Trcka, Jesse (Jenni) Trcka, Andrew (Michelle) Trcka, Tim Trcka, Tania (Beau) McCusker, Cyndy (Mike) Tuma, Zachery (Carolyn) Rickert, Isaac (Kim) Rickert, Ryan (Heather) Benjamin, Cassandra (Taylor) Christensen, Kayla Williams-Schwarze;
20 Great-Grandchildren;
Brother, Marvin (Verdella) Moehring;
Nephew & Godchild, Paul Moehring;
Many other relatives and close friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Parents, Raymond and Marie Moehring; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Irwin and Lillian Cutlar; Father of her children, Earlin Cutlar; Brother-in-law, Lowell Cutlar; Great-Grandson, Tyler Kubesh.

    I was sad to see this news ! I enjoyed getting to know her and her family over the years. I will miss her. Take care . Thank God for Easter for she is enjoying it with him everyday now!

    My condolences to all of Shirley’s family. I know family meant a lot to her. We were neighbors for many years as our families farmed in Sumter Township.
