Obituary
Soferle (Kastropp) Anderson was born July 4,1930 in Stuttgart, Germany. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Hugo and Alwine (Grunzig) Kastropp. She grew up in a very different and difficult time in Europe. As a youth in Germany during World War II, she and her family had to run to bomb shelters nightly during Allied air raids. Because of food rationing towards the end of the war, she was sent to a farm in Austria for a short time. When she returned to Stuttgart she met her future husband, John Anderson.
Soferle immigrated to the United States and they were married April 18, 1948. The couple made their home on the farm and were blessed with 3 children, Marlene, Donald, and Marlyce. They had shared almost 60 years of marriage when John passed away in 2008. She lived on the farm until January of 2020, when she moved to Westview Estates Assisted Living in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota and then to the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in February of 2023.
Soferle helped around the farm by gardening and mowing lawn. During the growing season, she also helped by picking rock, walking beans, and hauling corn and beans to the elevator. Throughout the late 1960’s and 70’s, she worked at 3M in Hutchinson.
Soferle was a wonderful cook and baker and prepared many specialties for her family including spaetzle, pies and cakes. She enjoyed listening to classical music and talking to her two sisters on the phone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she spent countless hours making cherished memories with her granddaughters when they were young.
Soferle played the piano in church for a while. She had a very compassionate heart for everyone. Her faith was strong throughout her life. She loved to read her Bible and devotionals, and she encouraged others to do the same. She prayed unceasingly for her family and friends.
Soferle went to be with her Lord November 19, 2025, having attained the age of 95 years.
